Paul Gosar

Over the last 13 years, I have lost all respect for what used to be the Republican party. From before President Obama was even inaugurated and Senate majority leader McConnel stated his main goal was to make Obama a one term President, to the Former Guy leading an insurrection on the US Capital, they have lost all sense of law and order, let alone respect for the Constitution.

I’m a left leaning middle of the road type of person, and altho I normally didn’t agree with the old Republican Party, it was one that could be bi-partisan at times for the good of the country. You know, would compromise once and a while. But not anymore

And just when you think you have seen it all, another braindead right wing politician from that party keeps digging a deeper hole.

About a week ago, the Arizona Representative tweeted an anime of him killing another member of the House, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and attacking President Joseph Biden. Paul Gosar may have finally stepped over his own lawless line. And you know he’s crossed a line when some at the fake news station Fox says he did.

The House is expected to vote on HR 789 on Wednesday and will only require a majority to enact. I believe all democrats will vote yes. A couple of lines from the resolution

“Gosar posted a manipulated video on his social media accounts depicting himself killing Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and attacking President Joseph Biden.”

The censure resolution also calls out the GOP, saying “the leadership of the Republican Party has failed to condemn Representative Gosar’s threats of violence against the president of the United States and a fellow member of Congress.”

The resolution says “depictions of violence can foment actual violence and jeopardize the safety of elected officials, as witnessed in this chamber on January 6, 2021.”

On Monday, CNN’s John Berman interviewed one of the Democrats most respected reps, and was quoted saying what I think a lot more Democrats, and Republicans, should be saying outloud.

“Over the years, I often referred to the House of Representatives, the hall of the House, as America’s classroom,” Clyburn said. “And I feel that very strongly we as members of Congress ought to conduct ourselves in that hall and in our duties and responsibilities in such a way that children, schoolchildren all over, can look to us, to emulate the conduct and that is why we should hold every member to a high standard.”

“And when someone sends out a tweet or any other illustration of him or her murdering somebody on the House floor, that, to me, goes far beyond the pale and that person should not even be a member of this body,” he continued.

In fact, a lot of his family members are telling the whole world that he should not be a member of Congress,” he noted. “And I think it would have been the right thing to do to move to expel him, but it is not what we have decided to do as a collective body, because we think quite frankly the Republican confidence has some responsibility here. They have been totally silent on this. What is that about? I just don’t understand how we can, as members of Congress, expect for the public to respect us when we don’t demonstrate that respect ourselves.

Vote total was 223 to censure, 207 to not do so and 1 vote ‘present’. Cheney and Kinzinger voted to censure while David Joyce, an Ohio Republican, avoided taking a position. Republicans that day actually enjoyed themselves, celebrating an historic sad day in the house.
